RE: Chamber Arts Scholarship Winners Announced
The final winners of the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Awards have been announced. The winners are Kaitlin Palmer of Southland Christian Academy and Eugene Hall of Albany High School. Both are winners of the Arts Scholarship.
The Arts Scholarship is a joint effort of the Arts Council of Livingston Parish and the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce. Over 20 applications were submitted by the deadline of March 30th. Education Committee Chair, Shannon Bernard commented that the participants in the Arts Awards are granted the extra time to apply due to the nature of their craft. Ms. Bernard is a musician as well as having vocal skills.
The selection committee reviewed the submissions ranging from visual arts, musicals arts, poetry and other applications. Kaitlin Palmer presented a visual arts piece that involved a complicated process requiring daily attention for four weeks. Eugene Hall submitted a recording of his talents as both a singer and musician. He is talented is playing several instruments.
Kaitlin and Eugene will join the other scholarship winners on April 11, 2012 at Carter Plantation. April Wehrs, Chamber Executive Director, stated, “The generosity of the sponsors and efforts of a large team of volunteers make this event possible. The Chamber is proud to offer those businesses wishing to support local high school students with a well structured program.”
The Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce is awarding $23,000 in scholarships to 23 students. The Scholarship Presentation / Sponsor Recognition Luncheon will acknowledge the 41 sponsors of the event as well as presentation of students.
