Kim Mulkey Presents Keynote at Women’s Leadership Event


On Wednesday, September 7, 2022 the Livingston Parish Chamber held its Women’s Leadership Event with LSU Coach Kim Mulkey as the keynote speaker. The theme of the event “Winning in Life” was inspired by Coach Mulkey’s winning record as a player, assistant coach, and a head coach. The event was held in Denham Springs at Abundant Life Church with close to 300 in attendance.

The event began with an Expo and networking, followed by the self-proclaimed “appetizer” speaker, Paige LeBleu, M.S., LPC, LMFT, NCC from Southeastern Louisiana University, who was notable in her own right. In keeping with the event theme, LeBleu impressed upon the audience that the way you talk to yourself, whether positive or negative, shapes your life. After a few fun activities to demonstrate her point, LeBleu went on to introduce the keynote speaker.

Coach Mulkey’s message was on-point as well, focusing on motivating your team which not only applies to her as a coach, but to business leaders as well. She elaborated on the five “fingers” of teamwork: communication, trust, responsibility, care, and pride and how powerful those things are in an organization. Mulkey then went on to talk about the things that made her who she is - she is never surprised to win, she never expects to fail, and most importantly, Mulkey said, “I’m not afraid to fail. That just doesn’t bother me because I know I’m smart enough, I know that I will work hard enough, and I will make it better than what it was.” And finally, she reminded the audience to consider what you are leaving behind and lead by example, before staying behind to take photos with a long line of attendees.

This year’s event included Expo tables from Presenting Sponsor Ochsner Health, as well as North Oaks Health System, Jefferson Financial Federal Credit Union, Our Lady of the Lake Livingston, Hancock Whitney Bank, The UPS Store Denham Springs, TWRU CPA’s & Financial Advisors, Fika Skön, Get Off My Nerves Chiropractic and CenterWell. The Women’s Leadership event is an annual event of the Livingston Parish Chamber.
