Lauren “Fleurty Girl” Haydel Presents Keynote at Women’s Leadership Conference
On Friday, September 15, the Livingston Parish Chamber held its Women’s Leadership Conference & Expo with Lauren Haydel of Fleurty Girl as the keynote speaker. The event was held in Denham Springs at Abundant Life Church with close to 300 in attendance.
The event began with networking, and an Expo with almost 20 vendors exhibiting products and services such as boutiques, women’s health, finance, beauty & aesthetics and more. The program opened with a message from Sarah Mitchell representing Presenting Sponsor, North Oaks Health System about their new Breast Care Program.
Personal Stylist and Image Consultant, Aimee’ Gowland of ALG Style presented advice for making a good impression through your attire, no matter what the occasion, as well as tips for cleaning out your closet, and ended with how to take the perfect photo.
Michelle Southern, seasoned radio personality and Creative Services Director at Guaranty Media spoke of her relationship with Lauren Haydel, and her involvement with Fleurty Girl in its early days before introducing Lauren as the Keynote Speaker.
Many in the audience were already familiar with Fleurty Girl, but not the struggles that Lauren Haydel faced to make her business what it is today. Haydel’s slide presentation painted the picture of how her small t-shirt business started with “awful” designs that “you probably wouldn’t buy if it were in your closet and on sale”, as she admitted, and grew to be part of the New Orleans culture. Fleurty Girl persevered through multiple challenges, including a “cease and desist” from the NFL, and now 13 years after its inception, the business employs 60 people throughout 9 stores in New Orleans and surrounding areas including Bay St. Louis, MS and the newest location in Baton Rouge. Haydel concluded her story with this - “I hope I inspired you to do something, against all odds you can do it!”
