On Nov. 18, YOUR Livingston Parish Library will be on the ballot! |
The Livingston Parish Library's existing 10-mill, 10-year tax will be on the Nov. 18 ballot.
|
On November 18, 2023, Livingston Parish voters will decide whether or not to extend an existing 10-year, 10-mill tax dedicated to acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining and operating the Livingston Parish Library.
This is A RENEWAL of a parish-wide property tax that has been on the books for nearly 30 years.
THIS IS NOT A NEW TAX. |
In 1995, Livingston Parish voters passed a 10-year, 10-mill tax to fund the library system. Voters renewed the millage in 2005 and again in 2014.
This property tax accounts for more than 99% of the system's annual operating budget. It is expected to generate $6.7 million.
THIS IS THE LIBRARY'S ONLY DEDICATED SOURCE OF FUNDING. Without this tax, the Library cannot operate.
If the millage is renewed (a vote "YES"), the Livingston Parish Library would be funded through 2035.
If the millage is not renewed (a vote "NO"), the Library could be unfunded by 2026. |
