MAURICE DURBIN –  Livingston Parish Government - Animal Issues
Is a true supporter of women and advancing their causes.  Prior to and during her tenure as First Lady of Denham Springs, Mrs. Durbin was a state lobbyist advocating on behalf of women and children’s issues.  She had long advocated for better outcomes.
Maurice Durbin will tell you she has two passions, trees and animals.  Her passion for trees resulted in the formation of Denham Springs Green.  Ever notice the trees when you exit I-12 at Range?  That is just one of the projects of the program. Her second passion is animals.  She is most proud of her work to bring a no kill animal shelter to Denham Springs - the first in the state.   That work led her to animal solutions and the formation of a non-profit that spays and neuters 1000 pets annually.
It’s no wonder Parish President Delatte appointed her to lead and oversee animal related parish government programs.  She practices what she preaches -  she has 3 dogs – 2 which are foster puppies that she decided to keep, 1 cat and a bird. All from shelters.  There is a lot more to her story with the many things she’s been a part of -   Maurice Durbin
